iPhone - one tip I cared about getting

Since I got my new iPhone, I’ve read a million stupid tips. Maybe this is another one, or maybe you’ll find this one really nice to have like I do.

Let’s say you want to type “Goober5A” as a user name (no, this is not my user name - I’m making it up - really).

When you get to the 5, you’re probably hitting the little 123 button to switch to number mode, hitting 5, then hitting the button to switch back to alpha mode. Quit doing that.

Instead, hold down the 123 button, slide your finger to the 5, then let go. Magic. Genius.

ZOLL Opens NASDAQ

zollnasdaq.jpgIn 1999, we sold Pinpoint Technologies (now ZOLL Data Systems) to ZOLL Medical Corporation. I continued to work there for several years after the sale, and got to know many of the great people at ZOLL in Boston. ZOLL has a great story - they were listed on NASDAQ 15 years ago when it had $21M in sales and 125 employees, and since that time they’ve grown to become a huge force in the health care industry. ZOLL now employs over 1,200 and sells defibrillators and other products (such as our public safety software suite, RescueNet) in over 140 countries, and have grown to more than $250M in annual sales. They’re also one of Americas most trustworthy companies.

Last Tuesday, my friend and CEO Rick Packer (middle, brown suit) rang the opening bell at NASDAQ, and in classic ZOLL style he made sure to bring along employees (in white) who were with the company when it went public in 1992.

Congrats to the great people at ZOLL on an amazing run!
