What the hay?

Our friends Pat and Katie had a “wine and hay” party the other night at their new place in Denver. It was Katie’s 30th birthday.

I have no idea where they got this idea, but it was fun.

Yes, my mom’s from Florida

My mom was out for a few weeks over Christmas. These snaps were taken up in Breckenridge, before the blizzards. It wasn’t that cold. But she’s from Florida. It amazes me how much stuff she was able to wear all the time.

A few daze in Vegas

Jil and I spent 4 days in Vegas this week. Yes, that is forever in Vegas. We went with a different mindset this time. We have gone before to party and go a little crazy with friends. This time, we decided that we were just going to chill out and sit by the pool alot. So we stayed at Mandalay Bay which has an amazing pool and beach. We literally laid by the pool for three straight days. I was able to rid my reading pile of two books: The Art of the Start (fantastic) and Fire Someone Today (ok). Meanwhile, Jil took in The Ivy Chronicles (Jil: “great”) and the Secret Life of Bees (Jil: “good”).

As far as shows, we went to see Ka (very good), David Copperfield (excellent), and Carrot Top (ok).

Ka was worth seeing and the center stage was amazing. It rotates all over the place and much of the action takes place at crazy angles with people flying off of it (on purpose). The side stages also extend about 45 degrees behind you on each side. The Cirque shows are always cool to me.

David Copperfield has not lost a step. I hadn’t seen him live in about 6 years. I consider myself a big fan since I used to be a magician for birthday parties when I was a kid. I’ve always thought Copperfield was the best and was wondering if he still had it. He does. Unbelievable, incredible, impossible.

We went to see Carrot Top at the urging of our friend, Ed. I was afraid I would be annoyed more then entertained. But it wasn’t that bad - parts were actually really funny. The show is just very prepared for the most part and overall it wasn’t my favorite. It was probably better because we were in the first row and everyone around us was being teased.

We also had two really good dinners while we were there. Try out Circo (Italian) at the Bellagio and Gallagher’s (Steak) at NY NY.

Andrew starts soccer

Andrew’s first day of soccer was today. He played last year, but he’s much bigger this year and the kids are a bit more into it now that they’re all 5 or 6 years old. His team is called the Fireballs, but the jerseys are blue. Go figure.

Here are some pics of the team during pre-game stretches (very cute), a team meeting, and Andrew kicking. Andrew did really well in the first game. His team scored a bunch of goals (they don’t keep score), but he didn’t get any. He did get knocked down once or twice, looked offended, then got back up and kept trying. All in all he had a much better attitude about the game than on his 4 year old team, when he often just sat down on the field. ;-)

Welcome to the world Julian

Our friends Jon and Cyndi (Baker) Borden just had a baby boy, Julian. Cyndi did most of the work, we are told. We went to visit them in the hospital the day Julian was born. Congrats guys!

Delaney - leaving babyhood

Delaney is just now going through that stage where a baby goes from looking like a baby to looking like a toddler. It’s so sad, because she’s been an amazing baby. For those of you know her, you know that she is just always happy and very chill.

These pictures were all taken in the last two weeks where you can literally see her “growing up”. :-(

Guess we’ll have to call her “Toddler D” from here on out.

Sanitas hike

Jil and I often hike up Sanitas with Ellie. Jil’s parents dog Mollie was along this time.

As you can see from the snaps, it’s a pretty decent vertical climb and provides great views back down on Boulder.

We originally named one of our products at Pinpoint Technologies (now ZOLL Data Systems) after this area. Originally called Sanitas, the marketing gurus have now blandly named it RescueNet Billing.
