An Update on the Microsoft Accelerator

The Microsoft Accelerator in Seattle has been a huge hit. Techstars first announced this in January, and it’s really blown me away. Techstars “powers” the program which is run at Microsoft in Seattle. The first focus was on Kinect-based applications for Windows and XBOX. We had over 500 companies apply and we funded eleven. It’s been really fun to watch these companies evolve, and you can see a taste of what they’re up to in this short video.

If you’re an investor you should join me in Seattle next week for the Microsoft Accelerator Demo Day on June 28th. Just drop me an email (david at Techstars dot com) and I’ll get you a VIP invitation to the event that afternoon. You’ll also have the chance to meet a bunch of the key executives for Kinect and XBOX at the event.

If you’re an entrepreneur working in the Microsoft ecosystem, consider applying to the next cycle of the Microsoft Accelerator which starts in August. You’ll get $20,000 in funding and help from great mentors from the Techstars community and top executives and engineers within Microsoft. This next cycle is focused on cloud-based startups so if you’re building any sort of web-based application using any Microsoft technology, apply today!
